Dr Sue's Bitesize Training Observations, Assessment & Planning

Are you feeling bogged down by paperwork? Are you confused by so much conflicting advice around what it means to do an observation, an assessment or planning?
If so, then you are not alone as there are a bewildering number of examples available from many different sources.
As an antidote to this confusion Sue has put together three bite-sized training courses:
1. Observation
2. Assessment
3. Planning
These short sessions delve into each of the steps and are based on Sue’s ‘Out of the Box’ way of looking at things through her ‘What, Why and How’ lenses.
Using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework (2024) as the reference point, Sue provides you with a simple guide of how to look at each area. This will support you in seeing these processes more objectively, accurately which will result in more impactful and meaningful analysis to help you to work in a more proactive and child centred way.
This online training is broken down into 3 sections:
- Introduction: this section where you can also download a copy of Sue’s presentation to make notes on as you watch the clip
- Presentation: some further notes and the online presentation
- Handouts and Resources: Additional documents and links to support the information provided in the presentation and a copy of the Reflective questions shared in the presentation designed to make you think about your current practice and what changes you can make for the future
